CAREERS NOT JOBS

It’s probably no surprise to you that we are always looking for great people to join our team and start a landscaping career. Some may ask, “Bret, how do you define great people?” I define great people as those who are enthusiastic, opportunity seeking, mostly humble, appropriately assertive, polite, respectful, coachable, always on time, eager to learn, willing to grow, goal oriented, and willing to challenge themselves.

So, whether you wish to join our team as a laborer, foreman, manager, salesperson, mechanic, truck driver, accountant, receptionist, or a vice president, if you fit the definition of a great person that I have defined, you will likely earn a position and will be in good company in your landscaping career.

If you’re still not sure, here are a few questions that will help to determine if you would be a good fit. Start with question one. It’s an easy one to help you get warmed up. If you can answer yes to all of these questions, you will be a good fit at Bret Achtenhagen’s Seasonal Services.

1. Do you comb your hair and brush your teeth at least twice each day – even on Saturdays and Sundays?

2. Do you know what self-esteem means?

3. Does having a meaningful job and contributing to the success of a team raise your self-esteem?

4. Do you make good choices every day and every evening, so that you are able to arrive at work at least 10 minutes prior to your start time and be a fully functioning member of our team?

5. Do you willingly accept additional responsibilities even though they may challenge your current capabilities?

6. Do you have a need for personal and professional growth, and does this need drive your behavior?

7. Do you volunteer your time and/or treasure to assist those who are less fortunate?

8. Do you have any goals written down and placed in a location where you can see them every day?

9. Do you have expectations for your future that will personally challenge you and give you financial freedom by the age of 65?

10. Do you consider yourself to be independent and are you comfortable spending time alone?

Again, it makes no difference if you are interested in a position as a laborer or a vice-president. To be successful and satisfied in your professional and personal endeavors, you are much more likely to thrive if you can answer yes to all of the questions listed above.
