Landscape Maintenance - Lawn Care Technician

General Function  

As a Lawn Care Technician, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently delivering fertilization, herbicide, pesticide, or insecticide applications to turf areas on client properties using specialized equipment. Additionally, you will perform various landscape tasks such as core aeration and lawn overseeding throughout the year, all while working outdoors in diverse weather conditions. 

 

Essential Duties: 

  • Prepare solutions and equipment safely to provide precise fertilizer application rates. 
  • Mix and apply fertilizer, herbicides, pesticides, or insecticides through sprays, dust, soil incorporation, or chemical application on lawns. 
  • Fill sprayer tanks with water and chemicals according to specified formulas and calibrate spray nozzles as required. 
  • Ensure correct handling, transportation, storage, and disposal of chemicals following safety protocols. 
  • Monitor equipment indicators and adjust machinery as necessary to maintain proper operation. 
  • Direct spray over designated areas using push and swing nozzles, hoses, and tubes. 
  • Monitor weather conditions to ensure safe application of chemicals. 
  • Start and operate machinery, including sprayer agitators and pumps or ride-on equipment. 
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, reporting any equipment issues promptly. 
  • Drive company vehicles to job sites, loading and unloading materials and equipment safely. 
  • Monitor vehicle and equipment fluid levels and perform necessary maintenance before use. 
  • Adhere to operating instructions and wear appropriate safety gear at all times. 
  • Contribute to the overall success of the company by performing assigned duties effectively and professionally. 
  • Contact clients as requested before arrival and leave appropriate notifications after service. 
  • Perform physically demanding work outdoors in various weather conditions. 
  • Comply with all environmental health and safety policies and procedures.

ADA Considerations:

Physical demands include continual movement, lifting, and operation of machinery. 

Exposure to various environmental elements and chemicals. 

Ability to work full-time with extended hours and weekend work. 

 

Education: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent 
  • Associate degree in Horticulture or related field preferred. 


License:

  • Valid driver's license with a clean record (meeting insurance requirements). 
  • 3.00 Pesticide Applicator license.
